Macy's, Insurer Battle Over Fla. Robbery Claim

Law360 (January 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- AIG subsidiary Illinois National Insurance Co. on Thursday fired back at Macy's, saying it is not required to defend the retail giant in a lawsuit stemming from a 2001 robbery and assault in a parking lot in Florida.

The insurer is seeking a declaratory judgment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida that is not required to defend Macy's or a security contractor tasked with guarding the location of the attack.
