Dow Urges Court Not To Force Rohm And Haas Merger

Law360, New York (February 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- About a week after Rohm and Haas Co. sued Dow Chemical Co. over its decision to delay closing its $18.8 billion acquisition of the specialty chemical manufacturer, Dow responded Tuesday by reiterating its claims that closing the merger immediately would harm the companies, their employees and shareholders.

Dow further accused Rohm and Haas of being so "anxious to deliver a blunt message to Dow" that the Philadelphia-based company "effectively deliver[ed] the same 'tough luck' language" to its shareholders in deciding to file its Jan. 26 complaint...
