DOJ Joins EU In Probe Of Global Cable Cartel

Law360, New York (February 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has reportedly joined the European Union in an antitrust probe targeting the global undersea and underground cable business.

Gina Talamona, a spokeswoman for the DOJ's Antitrust Division, confirmed with Reuters on Wednesday that the U.S. was “coordinating with the EU and other foreign competition authorities” in an investigation of the industry.

"The Antitrust Division is investigating the possibility of anti-competitive practices in the submarine and underground cable industry," Talamona told Reuters.
