Insurer Sues Peanut Corp. Over Salmonella Coverage

Law360 (February 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hartford Casualty Insurer Co. has filed a lawsuit against the Peanut Corp. of America to determine whether its multimillion-dollar liability policy covers salmonella-related liability claims.

In the lawsuit, filed on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, Hartford claims that the primary and umbrella liabilities policies it wrote to PCA from 2006-2009 may not cover certain claims stemming from the factory’s salmonella outbreak.
