Coke Bottler To Pay $8M To Settle Wastewater Case

Law360, New York (February 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- AMCAN Beverages Inc., a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Co., has agreed to pay $7.59 million to settle allegations that it violated wastewater discharge rules by dumping polluted water into the water treatment system of a California city.

The bottling company will pay a civil penalty of $3.5 million as well as restitution to the city of American Canyon for fees and costs incurred as a result of a number of wastewater violations that occurred as early as January 2005, the city announced Monday.
