Court Approves $3M Superfund Deal In Asarco Case

Law360 (February 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has approved a $3 million settlement between bankrupt mining company Asarco LLC and six other companies, including BP America Inc., over the cost of cleaning up a polluted site in Missouri.

On Monday, Judge Richard S. Schmidt of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas approved the settlement, writing that the deal “is in the best interests of the debtor, its estate and creditors.”
