JPML Centralizes J&J Invokana Unit Litigation In N.J.

Law360, New York (December 9, 2016, 6:33 PM EST) -- Fifty-five lawsuits against a Johnson & Johnson unit over claims that the company failed to adequately test its Invokana diabetes drug and warn consumers about the risk of medical problems have been consolidated in New Jersey federal court under an order issued Wednesday by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.

The panel found that the actions against Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. involve common factual questions and that consolidating them would eliminate duplicative discovery, prevent inconsistent pretrial rulings, and conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel and the judiciary.
