Nicotine Addiction Caused Smoker's Death: Jury

Law360 (February 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Big Tobacco shuddered Thursday as a Florida jury found nicotine addiction to blame for a chain-smoker’s death from lung cancer, opening the gate to liability claims against Philip Morris USA Inc. and creating a touchstone for the thousands of other suits pending against the major tobacco companies.
