States Send Trump Strategy To Dismantle Clean Power Plan

Law360, Dallas (December 15, 2016, 6:00 PM EST) -- A 24-state coalition led by Texas and West Virginia’s attorney generals on Wednesday urged President-elect Donald Trump and congressional leaders to withdraw the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, saying necessary steps need to be taken to ensure similar proposals never take form again.

The coalition, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, sent a letter to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., suggesting a strategy to get rid of the policy — a linchpin of President Barack Obama’s climate...
