Geico Settles Personal Injury Coverage Class Action

Law360 (February 17, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Government Employees Insurance Co. and New Jersey consumers have settled a class action alleging Geico illegally denied medical expense benefits to policyholders injured in crashes.

Under the proposed settlement, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Geico will provide the $250,000 statutory maximum in personal injury protection to the class members, estimated to be in the hundreds, and shell out $400,000 in fees to class counsel.
