Russia Probes Telecom Cos. Over Price-Fixing

Law360, New York (August 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Amid the backdrop of the European Union’s investigation of the telecommunications industry into possible violations of competition law, Russian federal antitrust officials jumped on the bandwagon Thursday, revealing they had launched an official probe into alleged collusion between the country's three largest mobile phone operators.

Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service said in a statement this week that it had opened an investigation into Mobile TeleSystems, VimpelCom, and Megafon on allegations that the companies colluded over the prices they charge each other for connections between their networks....
