Former KPMG Arm Ducks Into Ch. 11

Law360, New York (February 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- BearingPoint Inc., a technology and management consulting services company that was once the consulting arm of KPMG LLP, filed for bankruptcy protection Wednesday to significantly reduce its debt and improve its capital structure.

The company, which filed for Chapter 11 on Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, said it plans to provide uninterrupted service to its clients. Only its U.S. affiliates entered bankruptcy protection.
