Amazon, HTC Get 8 Video Patents Killed Under Alice

Law360, Los Angeles (January 5, 2017, 7:11 PM EST) -- A Virginia federal judge invalidated eight video and data-related patents Thursday asserted against HTC and Amazon, marking an unusually high number of patents found ineligible under the Alice standard in one fell swoop.

Virginia Innovation Sciences Inc. had asserted its patent family against HTC Corp. and, later, Amazon.com Inc. for allegedly infringing by way of various mobile devices and video products.
