DOJ Subpoenas DaVita, Fresenius Over Dialysis Aid Program

By Suevon Lee (January 6, 2017, 11:12 PM EST) -- DaVita Inc. and Fresenius Medical Care have been subpoenaed by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston regarding an arrangement in which their charitable donations fund dialysis treatment for patients, the companies said Friday, the same day they sued the government over a rule change affecting patient insurance coverage.

DaVita said in a news release it received a subpoena from the U.S. Attorney's Office "seeking the production of information related to charitable premium assistance."
