STEC, Seagate Drop SSD Patent Fight

Law360 (February 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Rival hard disk drive manufacturers Seagate Technology LLC and STEC Inc. have asked a judge to dismiss all claims between them with prejudice in a suit brought by Seagate that accused STEC of infringing five patents related to solid-state drives.

The stipulation, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, provides for Seagate and several subsidiaries, including Maxtor Corp., to drop its bid for treble damages and an injunction against STEC over the alleged infringement of the patents.
