DOE Aims To Start Using Stimulus Funds Quickly

Law360 (February 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Thursday announced changes to the U.S. Department of Energy designed to streamline and expedite the process of getting money from the economic stimulus package into the hands of renewable energy developers.

The goal of the changes, Chu said, is to have up to 70 percent of the approximately $39 billion allocated to the DOE under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act out the door by late April or early May.
