Fla. Heart Doctor's FCA Settlement OK'd By Bankruptcy Judge

Law360, Miami (January 23, 2017, 10:28 PM EST) -- A Florida bankruptcy judge has approved a multimillion-dollar settlement that a Florida heart surgeon reached to resolve a False Claims Act suit against him, saying he found it to be in the best interests of the estate and all creditors.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry A. Funk gave his approval to the June 30 agreement in orders entered Thursday in Chapter 11 cases filed in the Middle District of Florida by Dr. Asad Qamar and his wife, Humeraa Qamar, and by his practice, the Institute of Cardiovascular Excellence.
