EU May Force Microsoft To Offer Rival Web Browsers

Law360, New York (February 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. reportedly may have to offer its rivals’ Web browsers to Windows users if the European Commission wins its antitrust case alleging the company took advantage of a dominant market position by bundling its Internet Explorer browser with the operating system.

The EC would consider requiring Microsoft to provide users with the option of choosing whether they want Internet Explorer or a competing Web browser if the commission concludes that Microsoft violated antitrust laws, EC spokesman Jonathan Todd told Dow Jones Newswires on Tuesday....
