Amazon Gets 20 Patent Cases Stayed Pending Own Challenge

Law360, Los Angeles (February 2, 2017, 11:21 PM EST) -- A Texas judge has stayed 21 infringement cases an Australian patent holder filed against major Amazon clients and ruled that the e-tailer's action in Virginia seeking a declaration of noninfringement and patent invalidity would proceed first.

Global Equity Management Ltd. had slapped patent infringement suits in Texas federal court in June against Ericsson Inc., Johnson & Johnson USA Inc., Siemens Corporation, General Electric Company, Uber Technologies Inc., Netflix Inc. and other companies that Amazon asserts are customers that use Amazon technology related to website's side menu bars.
