High Court LinkLine Ruling Bars Price-Squeeze Claims

Law360 (February 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- In the closely watched case against Internet service provider linkLine Communications Inc., the U.S. Supreme Court has issued a ruling barring price-squeeze claims under U.S. antitrust law where the defendant has no clear antitrust duty to deal with its competitors.

Reversing a decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the high court said Wednesday that its decision in an prior case, Verizon Communications Inc. v. Law Offices of Curtis V. Trinko, should be similarly applied here, effectively blocking price-squeeze claims.
