Verizon Pushes FCC To Clear The Way For 5G Infrastructure

By Kelcee Griffis (February 7, 2017, 8:28 PM EST) -- Verizon Wireless has asked the Federal Communications Commission to take action to make municipalities speed up the installation of 5G wireless broadband infrastructure, saying the FCC has authority on the issue with localities.

In a letter submitted Monday as part of a comment period on the issue, the company summarized an earlier meeting it had with the agency, in which it asked the FCC to take the lead in requiring municipalities to negotiate with service providers over the placement of wireless broadband infrastructure.

In the letter, the company said it "urged the commission to use its authority ... to require localities...
