Compressor Makers Hit With Antitrust Class Action

Law360, New York (February 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Honolulu appliance company has filed a putative class action against several refrigerator component manufacturers and sellers, including Whirlpool Corp., Tecumseh Products Co., and Panasonic Corp., alleging the companies engaged in a conspiracy to fix the prices of hermetically sealed compressors.

K-N-D Appliances and proprietors Kelly and Dennis Higashi of Honolulu filed the complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on behalf of a putative class of direct purchasers of the refrigerant compressor products made by the defendant companies....
