Holland is set to retire at the end of March, ending a 30-year tenure on the First State's highest bench and opening up the first high-profile judicial nomination process for the state's brand new governor John C. Carney, according to a statement from the court Thursday.

Justice Holland holds the distinction of being both the youngest jurist ever confirmed to the Delaware Supreme Court, which is keenly watched domestically and around the world for its decisions on high-octane business disputes and law, and the panel's longest serving member.
