Novartis Unit To Appeal $47.1M Contact Lens Ruling

Law360 (February 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Novartis AG unit CIBA Vision Corp. said it plans to appeal a $47.1 million judgment entered against the eye care company Thursday in a patent dispute with Rembrandt Vision Technologies LP over contact lenses.

Magistrate Judge Charles Everingham IV of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Thursday awarded Rembrandt the $41.08 million it won in a jury verdict last year in addition to $6.06 million in prejudgment interest.
