Hacker Gets Prison In Bank Data Theft Scheme

By Jeannie O'Sullivan (February 16, 2017, 6:36 PM EST) -- The administrator of two criminal online hacking forums was sentenced on Thursday to 41 months in federal prison for stealing login and payment card data from victims in New Jersey and elsewhere as part of an international hacking conspiracy, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Sergey Vovnenko, 31, most recently of Naples, Italy, previously pled guilty to one count each of wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, who imposed the sentence in Newark federal court.
