Kraft Wins 'Natural' Cheese Suit Stay Pending FDA Guidance

By Joyce Hanson (March 6, 2017, 5:43 PM EST) -- A Puerto Rico federal judge has put a hold on a false labeling suit over artificially colored cheese brought against Kraft Foods Group Inc., saying she is pausing the case until the U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides guidance on the use of the term "natural" on food products.

U.S. District Judge Carmen C. Cerezo on Friday granted Kraft Foods' motion to stay, pointing to three recent rulings in support of the company's argument that Puerto Rico resident and consumer Milagros Quinones-Gonzalez's case should be paused pending the completion of the FDA's rulemaking process.
