Software Cos. Hit With Data Security Patents Suit

Law360, New York (March 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Information Protection and Authentication of Texas LLC has accused Symantec Corp., Microsoft Corp. and a score of other companies of infringing patents related to security software for computer systems.

The amended complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claims the 22 defendants — which include antivirus application vendors and firewall manufacturers as well as security software companies — infringe two patents for computer information protection.
