Ex-Gen Re VP Gets 1 Year In $600M AIG Fraud Case

Law360, New York (March 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge sentenced former General Reinsurance Corp. Senior Vice President Christopher Garand to a year and a day in prison Wednesday for his alleged part in a fraud scheme that cost shareholders of American International Group Inc. close to $600 million.

Judge Christopher F. Droney of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut also ordered Garand, 61, to pay a fine of $150,000 and undergo an additional two years of supervised release.
