ASM International Sues Applied Materials for Patent Infringement

Law360, New York (October 10, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Semiconductor equipment maker ASM International N.V. and its U.S. subsidiary, ASM America, Inc., filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas against U.S. rival Applied Materials for patent infringement, the company said in a statement.

The complaint alleges infringement of six of ASM's U.S. patents and seeks injunctive relief from manufacturing, selling, ordistributing any infringing products. The complaint also seeks actual and enhanced damages for Applied's willful infringement....
