Trump-Pai Meeting Records Should Be Public, Group Says

Law360, Washington (March 13, 2017, 5:40 PM EDT) -- The Electronic Privacy Information Center has asked the Federal Communications Commission for records on a meeting last week between President Donald Trump and FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, arguing Trump’s comments on the media and a Republican push to overturn Obama-era privacy rules demonstrate an urgent public interest.

In a Freedom of Information Act request posted to its website Thursday, EPIC asked for any records on the March 6 meeting, including “memos, briefing papers, emails and talking points.” The afternoon meeting came a day before the president nominated Pai for another term at the FCC, and two days before Wednesday’s FCC oversight...
