DOJ Eyes Tenet Healthcare Hospital Contract

Law360 (August 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors are seeking more information about South Carolina’s decision to greenlight a Tenet Healthcare Corp.-owned county hospital’s expansion rather than allowing competing, out-of-state health care operators to enter the market.

The U.S. Department of Justice said in a letter mailed last Friday that a decision by the Department of Health and Environmental Control board to preclude new competitors from entering hospital markets in South Carolina "merits full discussion at a final review conference," according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
