NY Court Nixes Global Reinsurance Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (March 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A New York state court has tossed an antitrust suit brought by Global Reinsurance Corp. that accused Equitas Ltd. of conspiring with underwriters at Lloyd’s of London to restrain competition in retrocessional claims activity.

Judge Bernard J. Fried of the Supreme Court of the State of New York dismissed the case Wednesday, saying that Global Reinsurance had failed to allege a relevant product market.
