Madoff Closing In On Deal With Federal Prosecutors

Law360, New York (March 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bernard L. Madoff appears to be on track to reach a plea agreement with federal authorities after prosecutors submitted an intent to file a criminal information Friday.

The filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said that federal prosecutors would not take the case of the disgraced fund manager before a grand jury, but would instead file the criminal information upon Madoff;s waiving his right to an indictment.
