Universal Wins Jury Verdict Over Eminem Royalties

Law360, New York (March 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Universal Music Group won a jury verdict on Friday against a record label representing rapper Eminem that had sued the music publisher to recover royalties from digital sales of the star's songs.

In an amended complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, FBT Productions LLC said it was entitled to half the royalties from digital sales for ringtones and in online stores like iTunes, as these companies were third party licensees.
