Federal Court Revives College Sex Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (August 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court brought a sex discrimination lawsuit filed by a former college athletic director back to life on Monday when it reinstated parts of Atkinson v. Lafayette, citing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that expanded protections of gender-equity law.

Eve Atkinson claimed she was subject to gender discrimination and unlawful retaliation when she was fired in 2001 after she criticized Lafayette College for failing to support men’s and women’s sports equally.
