Merrill Wants Out Of Job Search For Former Worker

Law360, New York (August 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Brokerage giant Merrill Lynch has asked the court to relieve it of its obligation to find a claimant in a high-profile sex-discrimination lawsuit a job, saying that she had turned down a management position the company offered.

Former broker Hydie Sumner, who worked at Merrill in San Antonio as a broker from 1991 to 1997, was one of hundreds of litigants in a 1998 gender-discrimination suit against the firm.
