Fed. Circ. Awards Mars Interest In Coin Patent Spat

Law360 (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Monday recalled its June order recalculating the damages in a nearly two-decade-long patent dispute between Mars Inc. and Coin Acceptors Inc. and issued a new ruling, finding that the original order improperly neglected to award post-judgment interest to Mars.

In April 2007, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey ordered Coin Acceptors, known as Coinco, to shell out $13 million in damages for infringing Mars patents for coin recognition technology.
