Toyota Recalls 2.9M Cars Worldwide With Takata Air Bags

Law360, New York (March 30, 2017, 8:18 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. on Thursday said it is recalling another 2.9 million cars around the world — though not in North America — that are equipped with the now-infamous and potentially deadly Takata air bag inflators, which have been linked to at least 11 deaths in the U.S.

The recall affects 1.16 million vehicles sold in regions including Oceania and the Middle East, and about 750,000 vehicles in Japan, 650,000 in China and an additional 350,000 in Europe and covers the Auris, RAV4, Corolla Axio and other models, according to media reports.
