BP Unit To Pay Up For Unreported Toxic Releases

Law360 (March 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A unit of oil giant BP PLC has agreed to fork over $785,662 to resolve purported violations of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act at its Texas City, Texas, refinery, only weeks after handing over millions to satisfy pollution claims.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency revealed the settlement Monday, with BP Products North America Inc. agreeing to pay $420,662 in civil penalties and another $365,000 to fund supplemental environmental projects in Texas City.
