Law360, New York (April 7, 2017, 10:10 PM EDT) -- Even though most employers realize that they can’t legally base hiring decisions on gender, many tend to overlook common pitfalls that allow gender bias to sneak into the process unintentionally, such as the use of loaded language in job ads or homogeneous interview panels.

Under federal anti-discrimination law, employers are barred from basing hiring decisions on gender or publishing job advertisements that show a preference for applicants of a particular gender, as well as for individuals of particular races, religions and other categories.
