J&J, Bayer Seek 3rd-Party Funding Info In Pa. Xarelto Cases

Law360, Philadelphia (April 11, 2017, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Johnson & Johnson and Bayer AG have urged a Pennsylvania state judge to require a group of consumers alleging they were injured after taking the blood thinner Xarelto to turn over information about any third parties that might be funding their legal fights.

The companies, which are in the process of working out which cases should be tapped as bellwethers in a mass tort program over the drug in Philadelphia County, said Friday that the information was needed to determine who was really calling the shots on the plaintiffs' side.
