Hash Browns Possibly Mixed With Golf Ball Bits Spurs Recall

Law360, Los Angeles (April 24, 2017, 6:18 PM EDT) -- Frozen Southern-style hash browns possibly contaminated with “extraneous golf ball materials” were the subject of a nationwide recall announced Friday by McCain Foods USA Inc., though the producer gave no indication as to how the two incongruous items came to be intermingled.

The Burley, Idaho-based McCain Foods did reveal that the golf ball materials “may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make [the impacted products],” according to a Friday statement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
