H-1B Crystal Ball: Lottery, Wage Changes Could Be Afoot

Law360, New York (April 27, 2017, 9:52 PM EDT) -- President Donald Trump’s recent executive order targeting H-1B visas was light on detail, but experts predict changes could be on the horizon for the visa program’s lottery system, along with prevailing wage updates or modifications to other immigrant work rules.

Just a couple of weeks after the administration issued notices indicating that certain H-1B employers should expect more government scrutiny, the president signed an executive order partially aimed at the skilled guest worker program. Specifically, the April 18 executive order instructs several agency heads to “suggest reforms” to help make sure H-1B visas are given to the “most skilled or highest-paid" beneficiaries....
