Club Med Sues Fox Searchlight Over "Club Dread" Satire

Law360, New York (February 9, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Club Med has filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against Fox Searchlight Pictures in an attempt to stop the scheduled Feb. 27 release of the film “Club Dread.”

Club Med is seeking a court order to force the studio to destroy all prints of the movie, along with posters, orders forms, price lists, labels, advertising, brochures, catalogs, packaging materials and anything else with the movie title on it.

The vacation resort company says it doesn’t want its name to be "tarnished" by the film's "disparaging association"...
