Fed. Circ. Won't Rehear Apple, Facebook IP Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (May 24, 2017, 6:40 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc., Facebook Inc. and other tech giants continued to win out over infringement allegations filed by a patent licensing firm when the Federal Circuit on Wednesday declined to reconsider a decision tossing out the case.

Back in April, Evolutionary Intelligence LLC urged the court to reconsider a ruling dismissing its case alleging infringement of two patents covering computer processes. The company argued the panel's Feb. 17 decision didn't consider the context of its inventions when nixing the patents under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice test, which says that abstract ideas implemented using a computer are not patent-eligible under Section 101...
