Hospitals Ask Texas Justices To Block Insurance Discovery

By Jess Krochtengel (May 25, 2017, 6:28 PM EDT) -- Two Texas hospital chains on Wednesday told the Texas Supreme Court hospitals across the state can be held hostage by uninsured patients if the court doesn't reverse a trial court order requiring a Houston area hospital to disclose its insurance reimbursement rates.

In an amicus brief, Christus Health and Texas Health Resources urged the court to grant review in a discovery dispute between North Cypress Medical Center Operating Co. Ltd. and uninsured patient Crystal Ann Roberts, who alleges the hospital overcharged her for treatment after a car accident.
