NH Power Cos. Lose Fight Over Divergent Tax Assessments

Law360, New York (June 5, 2017, 8:04 PM EDT) -- In two separate rulings, the New Hampshire Supreme Court on Friday upheld the denial of two electricity providers' appeals of dozens of tax abatements, ruling that a state board properly rejected expert testimony it found failed to support claims that municipal and state property appraisals were grossly disproportionate.

The court affirmed rulings by the New Hampshire Board of Tax and Land Appeals that testimony by experts for New Hampshire Electric Cooperative Inc. and Eversource Energy was flawed, and that it is within the board's authority, as a fact finder, to reject testimony that it found had failed to prove the claims....
