Pa. Pension Measure Clears Final Legislative Hurdle

Law360, Philadelphia (June 8, 2017, 3:16 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania is poised to enact pension reforms that would put new state and public school employees on 401(k)-style plans, after the state House on Thursday passed legislation that Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has promised to sign. 

The House passed Senate Bill 1 in a bipartisan vote with a 143-53 margin. Under the measure, current retirees and current workers or teachers will be allowed to keep their defined benefit pensions, unless they actively choose to participate.
