EU Moves Forward With Unified Patent Court

Law360, New York (March 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has asked the European Council for permission to begin setting up a Europe-wide patent court, the commission said Tuesday.

The Commission has sent recommendations to the European Council about the shape of a proposed unified patent litigation system and asked for a mandate to negotiate with signatories to the European Patent Convention – which include non-EU states – to establish the courts.
