Kickback Suit Against Fla. Anesthesiologists Dismissed

By Nathan Hale (June 15, 2017, 8:32 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge said Wednesday that the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists will have one more chance to amend its federal False Claims Act suit accusing several anesthesia providers of running a physician kickback scheme, after he dismissed its claims for lacking necessary specificity.

U.S. District Judge James D. Whittemore issued two dismissal orders, one centered on claims concerning anesthesia practices owned by Dr. Umesh Choudhry in the Tampa Bay area, and another regarding claims against anesthesia practices owned by Dr. Jack Groover around Jacksonville. Both doctors are gastrointestinal physicians and surgeons, according to the orders.
